Elle ne prend son sens que reliée à un ou plusieurs énoncés.
Le sens de l'auxiliaire joue aussi un rôle important :

La position de la question tag peut contribuer à déterminer son sens.
A l'inverse de la valeur présupposante vue ci-dessus, une place inattendue - noter aussi les points de suspension ou les tirets - permet notamment de mettre en doute ce qui est énoncé (1 + article sur Rudy Giulani > traduction explicative > est-ce si sûr / en est-on bien sûr ?), de faire comme si l'énonciateur doutait de son lecteur, comme si celui-ci n'allait pas souscrire immédiatement à ce qui va lui être dit.
