syntaxe > préposition + N ≠ adverbe
à la différence d'une préposition, qui est liée à une / suivie d'une forme nominale (nom, Groupe nominal, GN-ing ou pronom) :
in the kitchen, after working, before leaving, with my dad, without you...

... un adverbe (here, there, afterward, out, outside...) n'est pas lié à une forme nominale (N).
Un adverbe n'a pas besoin de N pour faire sens.
Il peut même se passer de phrase : on peut l'utiliser seul.
Dans certaines situations / certains contextes, un adverbe suffit pour se faire comprendre :
here! over there! down! up! out!
outside
