When Love Transcends Prison Bars,

A Couple Finds Each Other Through Letters

How do you tell the story of absence?

How do you visualize the space occupied by longing?

These were the challenges in creating Sheila & Joe,

a film about two people separated by incarceration who met,

fell in love and committed their lives to one another through letters.

George Best bragged of his sex

with tycoon's wife Ros Hollidge:

"We have done it every way — every shape!"

The soccer legend said the pair devoured each other

during weekly sessions after a "fatal attraction" meeting.

(...)

When I can see her on those rare occasions

we have fantastic sex.

But she is due to go on a family holiday soon

and I'm going to find it impossible.

the way they communicate with other children and with adults.

(...) The twins wouldn't have to sit next to each other

in class; and in reception,

there's always a strong element of play activity,

so they could often be in different groups.

leaving it up to the parents to decide.
I am in two minds. What is the general advice?,

Why, he asks, do so many Americans kill each other

with guns and why do so many of them

feel they need to be armed?

"We have a history of violence," replies Heston,

"perhaps more than most other countries."

When Moore retorts that Germany and Britain

have violent histories, too,

but currently a relatively tiny number of gun-related killings,

Heston walks out.
