highlighting racial injustice in the American south.

Joan Baez and Bob Dylan

Joan Baez first appeared at the Newport folk festival in 1959,

releasing her self-titled debut album a year later.

She introduced her audiences to a largely unknown Bob Dylan

when the pair appeared at the festival in 1963.
